Born to a family of Greek immigrants who settled in Appalachia, Alyx Astryx* grew up in a vortex of culture-clash fueled by the American Dream. As his family moved in search of work, one thing remained constant - his love of music. In 2015, Alyx Astryx* arrived in New York City - broke, no friends, no plan - drunk on his own dream to play on stage.
In his effort to make sense of the unrelenting and knotted social fabric of NYC, Alyx Astryx* is unwavering and shockingly honest in his quest to remain authentic. The Goliath effort to represent oneself, and one's own art completely, is a behemoth and brave task; Alyx Astryx* believes that “the coolest thing you can be is yourself”.
The music of Alyx Astryx* is unmistakable and daringly beautiful with a lustworthy dose of darkness. Alyx Astryx* inspires listeners with an interplay of 1980s synth melodrama, 1990s euphoric nostalgia, and by lamenting on the frustrations of post-modern agony.
